Spain’s air navigation company, known in Spanish as Aeropuertos Espanoles y Navegacion Aerea (AENA), revealed in a declaration on Sunday that airlines have been requested to refrain from flying over the Canary Islands after a volcano appeared on one of the archipelago’s main islands, La Palma.

A spokesperson for Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez (envisioned) unveiled the prime minister will delay his visit to the United States and will travel to the afflicted island first.

The island’s very first volcano eruption in 50 years resulted in lava discharge and plums of smoke, while the at-risk population been asked to leave earlier during the week.
