Midnight Mass, Mike Flanagan’s third horror series for Netflix (though not the next story in The Haunting series), makes its premiere Friday, Sept. 24.
The show takes place in a small island community. Isolated due to their location, the people of Crockett Island only have each other to commune with or pick at. It’s an environment that’s produced more than one division with no hope of reconciliation.
However, when a mysterious priest by the name of Father Paul arrives, the miraculous begins to happen. It triggers renewed faith in the islanders and a religious zealous that’s foreign to one of Crockett’s native sons who made his return just as the priest arrived.
But things aren’t as they seem. Not with Father Paul and not with the supposed miracles that he’s used to curry favor with the townspeople. Everything in life has a cost no matter what anyone says even a religious figure that purports to be trust worthy.

This horror mystery will unfold in seven episodes that will all release on September 24. As it’s a limited series it’s not likely to have a sequel.
Midnight Mass is the only Mike Flanagan Netflix project to drop this year. The teen horror series The Midnight Club is set to release in 2022. There’s no word on the progress of his other teen offering for the platform, Shadecraft.
