Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid announced on Tuesday the list of deputy ministers who will serve in the Afghan government, however without naming any women for a Cabinet spot. Mujahid said that the interim government included members of all ethnic minorities, adding that women might be added in the future.
The move comes as expected since the Taliban replaced last week the Women Affairs Ministry with the Ministry of Vice and Virtue in what seems to be one more move toward restricting women’s rights. At the same time, the group banned teenage girls from attending secondary school.
