Parisian building and construction and infrastructure bid management platform Saqara, previously called AOS, or Appels d’Offres Simplifiés, has raised EUR9 million in a Series A funding round. Like a host of other proptech/contech players, Saqara is pressing the construction market into the 21st century by digitising a number of previously paper-based processes. The brand-new financing is expected to support the companies’ international development strategies, particularly in the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, and North Africa. To date, the four-year-old startup has raised roughly EUR13 million in financing.
In a market that’s generally been reluctant to change and happy to depend on the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t repair it’ state of mind, Saqara would relatively have its work cut out for itself. However, considering that releasing in 2018, the business has seen over 4,500 projects launched, totaling over EUR18 billion of building and construction and infrastructure works pass through its doors. Nothing to sneeze at.
By minimizing the dependence on paper and spreadsheets, Saqara is supplying a platform to put the procurement procedure, quite literally, all on one page. In addition to the single source of truithiness, Saqara is likewise bringing ecological issues into play by supplying a boosted exposure of the whole supply chain, ultimately permitting developers the capability to track product sourcing and arranging a carbon footprint.
Saqara/AOS/Appels d’Offres Simplifiés’ Series A round was led by A/O PropTech and saw the involvement of Activum SG, Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation, Concrete VC and angel financier Leigh Jasper.
« From the outset, it was clear that Alexandre and Thomas had the ideal mix of domain know-how, technical savvy and outrageous aspiration to construct something truly transformative for the building industry, » remarks Activum’s Gabbi Cahane. « In a short space of time, they’ve built Saqara into an essential tool that enhances, standardises and supercharges the whole tendering procedure for everybody included. »
